We’re so excited to introduce you to Payton Budge, BSN, RN, one of our Injection Specialists here at Skin by Lovely Portland. Known for her calm and caring presence, Payton brings a blend of medical expertise, artistry, and compassion into every patient experience.
Get to know her better in this round of 10 Questions with Payton.
I graduated from nursing school in 2021 and started working bedside in a hospital. That experience was so important for me. It helped me build confidence as a nurse and taught me how to truly care for people in a meaningful way.
In 2023, I decided to transition into aesthetics. I started out at a large corporation, but after attending an advanced injection specialist training, everything changed for me. I learned techniques I wasn’t using in my day-to-day work and realized I wanted to grow and offer more to my patients.
After that, I moved to a smaller practice where I could continue to learn and focus on more personalized treatments. Eventually I found my way to Skin by Lovely, and I’m so happy I did. It feels amazing to be part of a team that encourages education, growth, and really puts patients first.
What I enjoy most is helping people feel confident in their own skin. There is something really special about seeing a patient light up after a treatment. Not because they look completely different, but because they feel more like themselves. I also love that this field is constantly evolving. There is always something new to learn, whether it is a new technique, product, or way to improve results. Being able to combine my medical background with creativity and building real connections with patients is what makes this work so rewarding for me.
I always start by really listening. I want to understand what brought the patient in, how they’re feeling about their appearance, and what their goals are. From there, I take the time to educate them on the treatment options and what’s realistic. I never rush the process because I believe trust is built through honest conversations and setting clear expectations. Every plan is personalized, and I always check in throughout the process to make sure they feel comfortable and confident. My goal is for every patient to leave feeling empowered and excited about their results.
Always go to someone who is reputable and well educated in aesthetics. You should never feel pressured during your appointment. If something does not feel right, it is okay to walk away. Ask lots of questions and take your time. Make sure you fully understand the treatment before agreeing to it. You should feel safe supported and empowered throughout the process. The goal with injectables is to enhance your natural features not change how you look. Go slow and trust the process.
5. Is there a particular treatment you really enjoy performing? What makes it your favorite?I really enjoy doing wrinkle relaxers and lip treatments. Wrinkle relaxers are great because they help soften expression lines and give a refreshed, natural look without changing how someone’s face moves. Lips are one of my favorites because they can really boost confidence. I love helping patients find the right balance and shape that feels natural and enhances their features. Both treatments allow me to combine precision with artistry, which makes the work really rewarding.
Right now my time is mostly spent with my toddler son and preparing for the arrival of our second little one. I’m also a wife and currently in school working to finish my BSN. I don’t have a lot of free time at the moment, but I’m graduating in July and really looking forward to having more of that time back. When I do get free moments, I love spending them with my family. We enjoy traveling and are excited to do more of that together in the future.
I think my calming and caring energy has become natural since becoming a mom. Staying in the present helps me really focus on each patient and their needs. I want every patient to feel truly cared for and safe during their appointment. It is really important to me that no one ever feels like I wasn’t listening or didn’t care about their concerns. I lead with that energy and stay flexible so I can adapt to what each patient needs in the moment.
My friends would say I am loyal, honest, and caring. I really value those qualities in myself because I believe building trust is so important in both friendships and my work. Being loyal means showing up for people no matter what. Honesty is key because I want to be real and straightforward. When it comes to caring, I’m someone who listens closely and always tries to understand what others are going through.
I would go to Greece. I’ve always been drawn to the beautiful islands, the stunning beaches, and the rich history. The food looks amazing, and I love the idea of exploring charming villages and ancient ruins. It seems like the perfect place to relax, soak up the culture, and recharge.
I have always yearned to be part of a team that is supportive, loving, and caring. I want to feel safe and like I can truly be myself. I feel all of that here at Skin by Lovely. It’s exciting to work in a place where those values are real and where I can grow both personally and professionally.
