A heartfelt thank you to the individuals and businesses who donated their time, efforts, and money in support of the ‘Empower Me Beautiful’ event at Skin by Lovely and the Pearl Women’s Center on February 26th.

Thanks to your support and contribution, a check for over $3,700 will be sent to benefit women and children escaping domestic violence through the Raphael House of Portland.

Lisa St John, Marketing Coordinator and Front Office Supervisor for Skin by Lovely Portland served as event chair and explained “…each year the Raphael House continues to advance its mission to engage their community in non-violent living through advocacy, education, and community outreach by providing a safe haven from domestic violence.  Events like this allow us to all rally around a great cause, and have some fun at the same time!”

The goal of Raphael House is to continue to offer emergency shelter in a confidential location, a 24-hour in-house crisis line, transitional housing and advocacy programs, non-residential advocacy in partnership with the Portland Police Bureau, and also work to bring an end to violence through community outreach and education.

Children in homes where violence occurs are 1,500 times more likely to be seriously abused or neglected than the rate for the general population.

With the help of donations from supporters such as those that came out for our event on February 26th, we will continue to see improvements in the lives of survivors and their families, right here in our area.

Extra special thanks to our signature sponsors, Pearl Women’s Center, Hair W, Riverwest Acupuncture and Wilf’s Restaurant at Union Station.
