Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical procedures performed in the U.S. for cosmetic reasons. The only downside to this treatment, however, is its price tag. Fortunately, two Botox alternatives have recently gained popularity for their inexpensive costs. They are Xeomin and Dysport.

Xeomin

Xeomin is the brand name for a product that contains the Type A botulinum toxin. This toxin blocks the release of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger in the body that helps muscles contract. When this messenger is blocked, the muscle contracts less forcefully.

Muscle contraction is part of what causes frown wrinkles and glubellar lines. Glubellar lines are the scrunched-up lines that appear on your forehead when you frown. These lines become more prominent as you age. By diminishing these muscle contractions, Xeomin can thereby diminish frown lines.

Dysport

Dysport also contains the Type A botulinum toxin. It has been used to treat neurological disorders, as well as the appearance of wrinkles. Like Xeomin, Dysport also diminishes wrinkles by relaxing the muscles underneath. Dysport can produce a quick result, but the body can sometimes develop an antibody to it, making this treatment less effective for some.

If you want to diminish wrinkle lines without springing for Botox, Xeomin or Dysport might be just what you’re looking for. Give us a call today to discuss these great alternatives!
