Your Questions Answered: All About Jawline Dermal Filler
The buzz around jawline filler is increasing fast. Sharp, sculpted jawlines seem to be popping up everywhere these days. From celebrities to Instagram influencers, it’s hard not to notice these chiseled features.
If you find yourself envying this look but think a contoured jawline is out of your reach, don’t give up hope just yet! At Skin by Lovely, we utilize dermal filler for more than just voluminous lips and pronounced cheekbones. Non-surgical dermal filler is also perfect to define the jawline!
Because this particular treatment seems to be one of the lesser known options in cosmetic medicine, we interviewed a jawline filler patient, Kristina of kristinaxmakeup, and her Skin by Lovely Injection Specialist, Rachel Pangilinan MSN FNP-C, to give you the most comprehensive look at one of our favorite services.

Who is the ideal candidate for jawline filler?
Jawline dermal filler is perfect for anyone wanting an elongated or “snatched” (tight and defined) look in their lower face. Filler is ideal for a person who has lost volume along the jawline or chin over the years.
What products are typically used for jawline filler?
At Skin by Lovely, we prefer to use a filler that is firm and robust in the jawline that is similar to what you’d use in the cheeks. Restylane Lyft, Juvederm Voluma, or Radiesse are great products for the jawline and chin.
Does everyone need filler, Kybella, and Botox to achieve sculpted results, or can results be achieved from each separately?
It really depends on each person’s anatomy to determine which treatment combinations best suit their needs.
Kybella is a fat dissolver and will address a double chin or full jowls due to fatty tissue.
Dermal filler will replace the lack of bone or muscle making the skin tauter and adding that distinct jaw edge.
By placing a neuromodulator along the jawline or in the neckbands, the platysma muscles will pull up and in; thus, giving the illusion of definition and a slimmer neckline.
How long does a typical jawline filler treatment take in-office?
Jawline dermal filler procedures take about 40 minutes.
If other treatments are added, plan to set aside an hour.
How do you perform a jawline filler treatment?
This also really depends on the patient’s anatomy. If the person is lacking volume in the chin, I would use a deep needle injection with filler to replace volume.
For definition along the jawline to the mandibular angle (bony corner below the ear), I like using a cannula (a long, blunt, and flexible needle) to disperse the product.
Is any anesthesia required?
The patient is awake the entire time! Many fillers have lidocaine to make the procedure more comfortable. We will also use ice and other distraction techniques to help ease any discomfort.
*Please let your provider know if you have any sensitivities to lidocaine!
How long will jawline filler results last?
This depends on the product used and person, but typically anywhere from 1 to 2+ years.
Have you seen an increase in jawline filler interest? If so, why do you think that is?
Q&A with Jawline Dermal Filler Patient @kristinaxmakeup
What made you decide to get jawline filler?
I’ve never really had a defined jawline and everyone in my family also has pretty weak jawlines, so I started looking into non-surgical ways to achieve a more defined and sculpted look.
My brand is my face and I wanted to enhance my features as naturally as I could without drastically changing how I looked.
What was your experience like getting filler for your jawline?
My experience was surprisingly very easy!
The team at Skin by lovely makes sure you’re comfortable and relaxed. They walk you through the whole process and answer any questions.
The procedure itself from start to finish took less than an hour, and I was totally comfortable because I knew I was in the best hands!
Did you have any other treatments or services done to the area?
I had Kybella done a few months prior to having jawline filler. This helped to enhance that area even more and I loved that!
Did it hurt? If so, how bad?
I wouldn’t say it hurt at all! They numb the area prior so you honestly shouldn’t feel much. I would rate it 2/10 for pain.
Definitely worth it! Rachel was very gentle and made sure I was comfortable the whole time.
Did you experience any side effects or down-time?
The only side effects I encountered were light bruising in one area and slight swelling, which went away after a few days.
I was very careful to not sleep on my sides for a few days to ensure I didn’t disrupt the filler, but I don’t think it would have even if I did. I went straight back to filming videos within 3-4 days!
How do you like your results?
I love my results!
The dermal filler has kept its form and lasted perfectly. Even now, 7 months later, my jawline is still defined and looks amazing!
I have no regrets!
Would you get jawline filler again?
Definitely! It gave me so much more confidence and I love my side profile, it looks so “snatched”! 😊
