The FDA approved Juvederm Voluma in 2013 for the correction of age-related volume loss in the cheeks of adults. According to a clinical study on Voluma, most side effects were mild and included typical reactions to injections like swelling, firmness, and discoloration. The study also found most side effects resolved without intervention.
There is little to no downtime following a Juvederm Voluma treatment. Many clients return to their everyday activities right after their appointment. However, we do advise taking it easy by avoiding strenuous exercise. Try to stay out of the sun and intense heat. It’s normal to see a bit of redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site and these side effects are temporary and will fade away quickly.
