All four of the wrinkle relaxers we offer are injectables made from botulinum toxin type A. They work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, the lines that form when you make expressions like frowning, squinting or raising your eyebrows. When those muscles relax, the overlying skin smooths out, softening existing lines and helping prevent new ones from deepening.
While Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Daxxify share this core purpose, they differ in formulation, how quickly they take effect, how they spread and how long results last. Those differences are exactly why a personalized consultation matters.
Botox is the original and most widely recognized wrinkle relaxer, FDA-approved for cosmetic use for over two decades. It smooths lines in the forehead, between the eyebrows (the “11s”) and around the eyes (crow’s feet).
During treatment, your injector places very small amounts of Botox directly into the targeted muscles. This temporarily relaxes the muscle, softening the lines created by repeated movement. Results typically appear within 5 to 7 days and last about 3 to 4 months, though this varies from patient to patient. Side effects are usually mild and temporary, such as slight swelling, bruising or redness at the injection sites. Botox remains the gold standard and a great choice for first-timers and precision work.
Dysport is also FDA-approved for treating frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. The main difference is that Dysport tends to spread a bit more and has smaller molecules, which can lead to faster onset, with many patients noticing results in about 2 to 3 days. That spread also makes Dysport a strong option for larger treatment areas like the forehead. Duration is comparable to Botox, around 3 to 4 months.
Jeuveau (sometimes called “Newtox”) is the newest-generation neuromodulator developed specifically for aesthetic use, unlike Botox and Dysport, which also have therapeutic medical applications. It’s made using a modern purification process and performs very similarly to Botox, with onset in about 2 to 5 days and results lasting 3 to 4 months. Unit dosing is essentially the same as Botox.
Daxxify is the longest-lasting wrinkle relaxer available. FDA-approved in 2022 for frown lines, it uses a unique peptide-based formulation (rather than human- or animal-derived proteins) that helps it bind longer.
Daxxify is an excellent option for patients who want to stretch the time between appointments, or who have an event coming up and want results quickly. Some patients even use Daxxify for major areas through the busier fall and winter months, then switch to Botox or Jeuveau for touch-ups.

You may have heard of two other FDA-approved wrinkle relaxers: Xeomin and Letybo. Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a “pure” botulinum toxin that contains no accessory proteins, which can appeal to patients who’ve developed resistance to other formulas. Letybo (letibotulinumtoxinA) is a newer, South Korean neuromodulator approved for frown lines, known for a fast onset and natural-looking results.
