Restylane® Defyne

When we think of the aging face, our first thought is of the skin itself; it loses elasticity and begins to sag and droop. Lines, wrinkles, and folds begin to form, and skin tightening treatments or even a facelift surgery become increasingly inevitable. However, a significant portion of facial aging is due, not just to loose, sagging skin, but volume loss. The breakdown of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid may cause deep folds, creases, and even hollow cheeks. This is where dermal fillers, like the new Restylane Defyne, come into play.

What Is Restylane Defyne?

Restylane Defyne, along with its counterpart Restylane Refyne, are the newest additions to the Restylane family of dermal fillers. Brought to us by Galderma, the makers of Dysport, Restylane Defyne is a hyaluronic acid filler that replenishes lost facial volume related to age, weight loss, and other causes.

Restylane Defyne is used to:

  • Fill in nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Smooth marionette lines, the wrinkles that form between the corners of the mouth and the chin and jawline
  • Address mild-to-moderate wrinkles and folds
  • Provide facial rejuvenation in the lower face around the mouth

Before administering any injectable filler treatment, your Aesthetic Injection Specialist will perform a consultation where we will go over your aging concerns, expectations, and medical history. After determining that you are a good candidate for treatment, we will schedule your Restylane Defyne procedure. Topical numbing or ice may be used, but isn’t necessary as the injectable filler contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Your Aesthetic Injection Specialist will perform a series of injections using a fine-gauge needle into the treatment area. They will then mold and shape the filler for best results. After treatment, ice can be applied to help with swelling.

Once injections begin, your Defyne treatment can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. This does not include your initial consultation.

Lidocaine, an injectable local anesthetic, is included in each syringe of Restylane Defyne. This helps ensure patient comfort during the procedure. Most patients report only a slight pinching or poking sensation and rate the procedure as very comfortable. If you are concerned about discomfort during treatment, you may opt to receive a topical numbing cream and/or ice.

Restylane Defyne is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel that provides smooth results in the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Galderma’s XpresHAn technology customizes the hyaluronic acid particles to cross-link with each other, providing a degree of flexibility and smoothness not found in many other fillers.

No two patients are alike, and everyone metabolizes injectables differently. However, during clinical trials, the results of Restylane Defyne lasted up to 12 months in over 65% of patients. Over 70% of patients continued to see results after 6 months.

Restylane Defyne is FDA-approved for anyone 21 and over who have mild-to-moderate wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. If you have nasolabial folds and marionette lines that bother you, and you’re in relatively good health, then you are likely a candidate for treatment.

Patients with severe allergies, a history of anaphylaxis, or who are allergic to ingredients in Restylane Defyne should not receive treatment. Women who are pregnant or nursing should also avoid dermal filler treatments. Certain medications may also prohibit use of Restylane Defyne; this is why it’s important to provide your Aesthetic Injection Specialist with a full medical history.

Common side-effects related to Defyne treatments are mild and include swelling, bruising, and light bleeding. These side-effects can be controlled by following our guidance before and after treatment. These guidelines include avoiding blood thinning medications and alcoholic beverages before and after treatment. We also recommend avoiding excess sun exposure and heat after treatment in addition to taking a break from exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Cold packs can be used to help alleviate swelling.

As every patient’s needs are different, the costs associated with a Restylane Defyne treatment will vary from person to person, but is sold by full syringe of filler. During your consultation, we will be able to give you a quote for your treatment.

We accept cash, major credit cards, and Paypal as payment for Restylane Defyne and other aesthetic treatments available in our practices. Contact us for a consultation today and find out if Restylane Defyne is right for you.

PATIENT REVIEW

“I decided on Skin by lovely due to their incredible reviews. Believe the hype. Everyone in that office is so nice and they make you feel very at ease. At first I was intimidated, I’m quite the introvert but everything went by very smoothly. Amanda is wonderful! I’ve had two sessions for my tear troughs. I’ve always had deep under eye circles due to genetics and I never thought I’d see such amazing improvement. I’m very happy with my results.”
